How Do You View Abortions?
By: Jasmine Smith
In North Carolina, there recently was a woman named Amanda and she went to Hallmark Women’s Clinic in Fayetteville, North Carolina where she met with abortionist Melvin L. Henderson. Abortions are already something that many women have a problem with having but she chose to have one because she was in an abusive relationship and she got pregnant by the man and didn’t want to keep the child. In my mind, abortions can be avoided. She went into a situation where they were very cruel to her. During the procedure when she was in pain or something the nurse would tell her to shut up or would yell at her. I feel that if she would have tried to get out of the relationship earlier when he was abusing her she may have been able to avoid getting pregnant, but I don’t know how she felt at the time. All I know is that the abortion agency was wrong for being so cruel to her about the procedure. It is a tough thing to do especially for someone who is “pro-life” and already regretting getting the procedure done but when they add the abuse during the procedure and they add the hurt she feels it makes the process drag on even longer. This pertains to the federal government too because they already have to deal with the problems that states are dealing with Planned Parenthood and how they are possibly using the unborn babies body parts but they have to deal with situations like this one that makes the debates of abortion get deeper because they start to wonder if it is good to have abortion clinics if they do things like this and then they will have to make rules about what they can and can’t do dealing with abortion.

Many Problems in our Current Voting system could be the reason why issues are not getting passed
by: issac boateng
People are hitting the polls in order to vote on issues that they feel are the most important in improving society. Issues such as issue 2, 3 and 22. Issue 2 was on monopolies in Cincinnati. Issue 3 was on recreational and medical marijuana. Issue 22 was on a levy to improve Cincinnati parks. The failures of public approval of issues 3 and issue 22 have been linked to failures and malfunctions in voting machines. This leads to an idea that maybe voting machines should not be used in the counting until all of the glitches are cleaned up. Many people wonder if the malfunction in the voting machine had not happened what the outcome for the poles would be. There was a huge difference between people that supported and didn’t support issue three. Which could either be because the issue was not good, but also could because of the voting machine malfunctions? Voting machines are a more modern things which many of older generation of people are struggling with. This leads to lower voter turnouts which cause issues that people support to be passed. Another issue that we face in our voting system is the fact that we have a low voter turnout which can be seen in the issue 3 which had really low voter turnout. The issue we face is how can bring people to come to vote. I think that we should send voter ballots to people homes with their address and name on it so that they can fill it out. If we send the voter ballots to people's home it increases the amount of people that vote. Another thing that I think we should do in order to increase voter turnout increases the number of days we have for people to vote. If we allow for there to be multiple days to vote then there will be a more wide range of people that are represented because not everyone is able to vote when it is voting day because they have to go to work. In conclusion, I think that we should reopen the polls so that everyone can vote and also because of the fact that the voting machines had malfunctioned during the voting period.

No Affection In School
By: Ravyn Ramsey
We feel that it is cruel and unusual to punish a child just because they were showing their peer affection in school. It is most definitely not needed to punish a child that has never been in any type of trouble and would do everything to make sure that they kept their same clean record. 14-year-old Ella Fishbough had never gotten in trouble at school; although when consoling one of her peers at school by giving him a hug, it is automatically assumed as PDA and she gets a detention and written up on her personal transcript. Ella attends Jackson Heights Middle School in Oviedo, Florida which is part of the Seminole County School District. The district’s code of conduct prohibits “inappropriate or obscene acts” including “unwelcomed or inappropriate touching, or any other physical act that is considered to be offensive, socially unacceptable or not suitable for an educational setting.” This means that it is literally in the principal’s best interest as to determine what kind of touching is inappropriate and what isn’t. According to WFTV Orlando, hugging was banned altogether at Jackson Heights meaning that it would have been considered inappropriate. All such actions are considered to be PDA. Of course we know that all rules should be followed, but is it really necessary to go this far when knowing that the students meant no harm? Ella’s mother, Kathy Fishbough, has said that she understands what the school means by having this rule, but seeing that the hug was not in the context that the school board is making it seem, is the problem. This makes complete sense, majority of the students know right from wrong, so it doesn’t sound smart if they were to just break the rules intentionally knowing that they would get in trouble for it. Kathy also asked that if it was Ella’s cousin that was going through something and Ella went to hug her, would she get in trouble? The principal had said yes because it was still a form of PDA even if it is a family member. There is a no tolerance level for ANY student. Overall, we understand that rules are rules, but why enforce something so much when other students are probably doing the same thing in another part of the school and that they would not do anything to purposely get in trouble.
